Plants
A lot of common houseplants are poisonous to animals. Simple gifts, like a bouquet of flowers or that "insta-perfect" looking Easter lily for your mom can cause adverse effects, up to and including death. Even plants that are usually okay for humans to eat, Aloe Vera for example, can be quite toxic for cats.
Essential Oils
It is a well known fact that Essential oils come from plants. These oils are concentrated components of a plant meant to enhance or amplify the effect of the experience of that plant. Diffusing oils in the home is touted as a refreshing and exhilarating experience for you and your entire family. Some oils, like eucalyptus, can cause cats to have seizures.
